Let's Play Ball!

Carson had his first home opener "Coach Pitch" game last night. It was a lot of fun and he did well. It was pretty cool how the park opened the season last night. They had a field dedication ceremony to start things off. The field was dedicated to 3 teenage boys who died this year in Fayetteville, who played ball for the park league. We had a moment of silence first. Then, the star spangled banner was sung with the color guard and they even had a fly over. The boys loved that. It was an emotional moment. I always get a little teary with the star spangled banner at sporting events, but the fly overs are just too cool. Anyways, here is Carson running into the dugout.

Carson running to 1st base. He hit the first time up when the coach pitched and then the second time to bat, he had 3 strikes and so he hit off the tee. That's how "coach pitch" works.

Here is Carson "on deck" and getting warmed up with a few practice swings.

I tried to catch the fly over on camera....the pilot even did some spins - Cal said "WOOOOOAAAAAH!

Carson looks like he is enjoying playing ball, do you remember when Dylan was that age and he was so happy when the coach told him he could sit out an inning? The coach was probably happy too! Baseball just wasn't for him, I could see him out there looking at the clouds imagining they were dinosaurs, not even knowing where the ball was. I'm glad Carson is liking sports, it gives kids a place to belong.
