Carson's Memorial Day Sleepover

On Sunday night, our friends from church, Sam and Angie, invited us over to cookout. We had a great time and our kids play so good together. Carson and their little girl Morganne are both 6 and for being a boy and a girl, they actually play awesome together. She loves to play sports, be outside, play games, and be active...all things Carson loves to do and they just get along well. She has a brother, Blaine, who is two months younger than Callahan and they played well too together. That night, we ended up staying pretty late (9:00 is late around our house!), so we just asked if Morganne could come stay the night and the kids could play more on Monday. The kids were so excited and they did really well. It was so last minute, that once we got home, the kids got ready for bed and I didn't even think about my camera until the next day. I took a few pictures of them playing on Monday.

Here is Callahan, thinking he is just as big as the 6 year olds. He saw Carson run through the house with his clothes, shoes, and hat on getting ready to go outside. So he ran in his room and put his shoes and hat on, but kept on his pajamas. So I took a quick picture of him. He played really well with the other two and they were very sweet to let him play with them and try to include him.

We had a great weekend and thank God for those men and women who have served, defended, and fought for our country and those who still are. We are so blessed to live here and enjoy the freedom we do, and we thank God for those who pay the price for it. God bless them and their families!

Touch a Truck and a Mimi Visit

I have a week to catch up on in the blog world! Last weekend, we took the boys to an event called "Touch-a-Truck." It was so fun for the boys, they could climb up in and explore all kinds of things on wheels. There were motorcycles, 18 wheelers, a SWAT truck, fire engines, ambulance, sheriff and police cars, disaster emergency units, a backhoe/digger, UPS truck, an electric co. truck, a huge Razorback 18 wheeler, a limosine, and I think that was about it along with bounce houses, give aways, and a project tent for Home Depot. We had a lot of fun!

Here are the boys in one of the trucks for disaster relief. This is a 4 bed/bunk part of the truck for the workers to get their rest when going to help a city affected by a natural disaster.

Here we are inside a limo...and not just any limo...a BMW one - this one was so spiffy it even had marbled tile flooring!

Here are the boys in back of the sheriff's car...I told that that was the only time I ever wanted to see them in the back of one of those!

Here is Carson with the cute little planter that he made at the Home Depot station...isn't the apron cute? He liked doing the project, Cal just wanted the apron, then we couldn't get him to put it on...oh well.

My mom came for a visit and would you believe the only pictures I took were these? I was awful about pulling out the camera when she was here. We had a great visit, as always, and she helped me pick out some pretty flowers from the nursery to plant in my front porch pots. Here she is watering them after she did all the work planting them. I'm so proud of them - thanks mom!!!

A Visit from DJ and Cari

Our friends DJ and Cari and their two boys, Wyatt (5) and Griffin (2 1/2) came through town last week and came over in the evening. It was a quick visit as they were heading to Cari's cousin's wedding in Fort Smith, but we enjoyed every minute we got to spend with them catching up. They moved from here a year ago to St. Louis, and we have really missed them. They are great friends that we've had since college and are such sweet, good hearted, happy people. The boys had a blast playing together and we enjoyed watching them play. Here are some pictures from the evening that we quickly snapped!

Happy Mother's Day 2009!

This was a great Mother's Day - I got the best, hand-made gifts from my boys and the most ever from them! I loved it!! Happy Mother's Day to all you fellow mommy friends and family of mine. I thank God for entrusting me with the lives of these two precious boys. I am also so thankful for the influence of my mom and Wade's mom and pray that I can be as good to my sons as they have been to Wade and I! Thank you also to you fellow mom's who inspire me each day to be the best mom I can!

Finishing out April

Here are some pics from this week. First up, Carson, Ellie Jane, and Callahan hanging out. Ellie loved the boys' chairs and would just sit up there in it and kick her legs like a big girl!

Callahan turned 2 1/2 in April! Time flies by!

I found this on Carson's white board this week. He really loves to write, in fact, his teacher told us that he is her "top writer." Yes, I'm bragging, but hey! Anyways, he will write out sentences and put the number of words in the sentence and number of letters in the sentence out to the side. Here's what they say in case you can't decode -

I like playing football.
I like my family. (good to know!)
My favorite color is green.
My favorite color is orange (didn't know that one..hmmm.)
I like basketball.
I love you. (Really don't know who that is directed at - I guess anyone interested enough to read it!)
I love the number seven.
