A Visit from Old Friends!

We had a visit last week from our dear friends, Landon and Jennifer Dale and their 3 adorable kiddos - Blake (7), Grant (5), and Cara (2). They were on their way from Denver (where they live) to West Memphis and stopped in to stay the night and visit with us. We always love it when they travel through because we get a chance to see each other and catch up! Wade and Landon have grown up together since they were infants (literally). We all went to Harding together and were married a year apart almost exactly. We loved seeing them and are already looking forward to next time...but next time Landon and Jenn - we want you to stay longer!

Carson's First Day of Kindergarten

Carson started kindergarten on Monday! He was so excited about it. He has had a good week and really likes his teacher, Ms. Ellis. He loves recess and said that PE was "was good, but not really really great." He has been tired, school starts at 7:50 and ends at 2:50 with no rest period! I'm tired for him. I have done surprisingly well, I get sad when I think about him only have a 15-20 minute recess period. Kindergarten is NOT like it used to be! Thank you all for your sweet thoughts and comments. I appreciate all of you!

Happy 11th Anniversary!

It was 11 years ago today that Wade and I said our vows and tied the knot! Looking back, we were such babies. In a way, it seems like it wasn't that long ago. Then on the other side, it feels like I've known Wade my entire life. Wade, I want to dedicate this post to you. I'll try not to embarass you and get too mushy on here, but I want to publicly acknowledge my appreciation for you! Thank you for being the kind of husband and father to our children that I always dreamed of as a little girl. I cherish your moral character, your faith, and your dedication to our family and your work. It is a wonderful feeling to know that I can trust you completely and have you to partner with to rear our children. I love you more with each passing day. I am thanking God for you today and your committment to me. I count you as one of my greatest blessings. Happy Anniversary!

Uncle Matt, you have your work cut out for you!

Carson is really, really, really into coloring these days and having art contests with us. A few days ago, he showed Wade his latest masterpeice and had the following conversation. Keep in mind that my brother's profession is graphic design and he is an amazingly talented artist (if you want proof, check out mscottstudio.com)

CARSON: Daddy - look at my picture I made!!

WADE: Wow Carson, that is really good! Maybe you'll be like your uncle Matt and love to do art when you're older, he's really good too.

CARSON: yeah, and maybe one day we can have an art contest and see who's picture is better!

WADE: Well, I don't know, he's really good.

CARSON: yeah, but I 'm not sure he can beat this! (see picture below)

Carson's First Dentist Visit

Carson went to the dentist on Thursday for the first time and did great! I know I've put off taking him to the dentist, but honestly I don't think he would've done very well when he was 3 or 4. He handled it like a pro and had no cavities - woo hoo!!

Our friend Morganne spent the day with us that day and she was a great helper entertaining Callahan. Here they are eating a snack while Carson is having his teeth cleaned.
Afterwards, Carson and Morganne got to pick out a sticker and got a token to trade in for a prize.

Mighty to Save

I overheard and secretly videotaped Carson singing last Sunday at my parents. The picture isn't real clear b/c I quickly started recording to capture the moment and forgot to focus first. The picture shakes some too thanks to my uncontrollable quiet laugh. If you've ever heard the song "Mighty to Save", then you will be able to follow along with Carson's version. My mom said it best when she said "Did you know?...God even saves the Dalmations!"

Mimi and Papa's Part 2

We are home now from Houston and had a great time. Carson cried the night before we left when I told him we were going home the next day. He said he wasn't finished playing in their big room. We are trying to recover from all the fun and late nights and getting back into some sort of schedule before school starts. Here is Carson hanging out on one of the bean bags...the boys loved these things!

Cal givin' some more love to Pugsley.

My 13 year old nephew, Dylan playing his guitar. I tried to get him to smile, but he said "no way!" I had to remember that he is a teenager!

Thank you mimi and papa for all the food, fun, and love! We appreciate everything you did for us.

Carson went to the dentist for the first time yesterday so I'll be posting some pictures of that soon. We are enjoying our last few days of summer break and getting ready for kindergarten! WAH!

Visit to Mimi and Papa's

We are in Houston visiting my parents for the week. The time has gone by so fast and we have been so busy it seems. We've shopped, swam almost every day, ate, and just had so much fun enjoying eachother's company. My parents have a great neighborhood pool with two slides and a diving board and Carson has had a blast with that. Here is a picture of him last Wednesday after we got here in their backyard... Here is Callahan in his matching shirt

Carson loved playing on Mimi and Papa's pool table until they sold it on Saturday to some college guys. It is so weird for them not to have it, it's been in their house ever since I can remember.
Callahan loves going in to Papa's office and rearranging all his picture frames on the table and sitting with him.

My parents have a one-eyed Boston Terrier named "Pugsley" and a Border Collie named "Scout." He has LOVED them, especially Pugsley (the one in the picture) and has been giving him all kinds of hugs, kisses, squeezes, etc. He lays all over Pugsley and the dog does not even care. He loves it as much as Cal! When we can't find Callahan in the house, we just start looking for Pugsley and inevitably we always find Callahan.
