sick kids and "Mimi" the great!!

My mom ran her first marathon today in Oklahoma City for the OKC Memorial Run dedicated to the 168 people who lost their lives in the bombing of the Federal Building April 19, 1995. She ran the full marathon for the first time and did great!!! She is my inspiration...the woman can do ANYTHING!! I am so proud of her...two years ago I would have never dreamed she could do this...she weighed at least 75 lbs more than she does now and didn't exercise at all. She has come a LONG way! I just had to brag on her. WAY TO GO MOM! I love you very much and am so proud of you!! Hopefully I can get a picture of her to post from the marathon. I couldn't go b/c my kiddos were sick, yes they have been sick for over a week now. Callahan is better as of today, but Carson got sick Wednesday with stomach virus and still has yucky diarrhea even today (Sunday)!! Wade got the stomach virus too during the week, but is much better now. We are SO ready for all to be well around here..I'm just grateful that I haven't gotten it!

Thank you Michael Ann for being my number 1 fan!(Dad says #2) This was truly a dream come true for me. The marathon is a tribute to those lives lost in the bombing and those whose lives were changed forever. When I first learned about the OKC Memorial Marathon I decided that if I were to be able to ever run a marathon this one would be the one, at least my first, maybe the only. I had mixed emotions of sadness and happiness as I ran through the city. Sadness for the victims of that terrible day and how we really were all changed forever, not just Oklahomans but Americans. Those thoughts were mixed with happiness that flooded my memory about things like walking into the capitol 39 years ago that I was now running past to apply for our marriage license, and going down town to lots of fun hockey games, and raising our children in this large small city. How I got to be there, healthy enough and blessed enough to experience this was a gift from God, I give him the glory and my gratitude. Again I felt changed forever!

Oops, that was me. Grammatical errors get me all the time! ;)

Your mom sounds like such a wonderful lady!! I can tell where you get your wonderful personality from. Kuddos for running the marathon (it is definitely a life-changing experience!) and for running it in memory of all of those people who needlessly lost their lives in a terrible tragedy.

Good for her! I am amazed by her, too. That is so inspiring. It is an amazing race. I did the OKC 1/2marathon 2 years ago. As you recall, we were Sr's in HS when it happened. Though I am from Tulsa, I had such unexpected emotions during the race. The thing that got me the most was running past the daycare and seeing the kids' pictures. I was just running and crying through 1/2 the race.

Tell your mom that I am proud of her, too! I will never forget how loved she made me feel when I was your RA!! She's a great lady who raised a kind and generous daughter and she should be so proud of you!

I hope the boys feel better!

I almost hate to leave a comment, because it makes your song stop playing. I love that. Congratulations on your mom! I CAN NOT BELIEVE that. She is an amazing woman. Little Jeffrey gets married a week from yesterday...he is so excited. You better call us when you are at your old stomping grounds. I would love to meet all three of your boys!
