Well, this week has been eventful and so this post is a little overdue. Last Sunday, Carson was outside with his daddy while Wade was putting together a basketball goal. We really don't know what exactly happened, except that when Wade hit a bolt out of the goal, the backboard snapped and knocked Carson right in the forehead which knocked him to the ground and busted his forehead open! I was inside and heard this horrible scream and cry coming from Carson outside and so I ran to the garage door and when I opened it - it looked like a horror movie, literally. Carson's face was covered in blood and it was dripping all over his sweatshirt. Wade was proceeding to tell me what happened, but was almost in tears himself! I grabbed a washcloth and put it on Carson's forehead and we raced off to the ER. Thankfully, it wasn't deep enough to require stitches and the doctor could glue it. We were so glad and Carson was so brave at the hospital. So, after stopping for ice cream, you would think he would be worn out and just want to veg out on the couch and maybe watch a little t.v. right?? Well, kids are so resilient - after we got home and he ate, he was back outside riding his bike and shooting hoops with Wade like nothing ever happened!!
He actually looks really good here, I should've taken a picture of him with the enormous bandage on his head at the E.R. - he looked like a soldier!
Then on Tuesday, I took Cal to the dr. b/c he just wasn't himself. He had major runny nose all weekend, but no fever. He just wasn't eating well and was very fussy...so sure enough he had an ear infection. But this week is spring break and we are so glad and looking forward to just goofing off!!

Poor little guy. That looks so painful. I glad that he got back to playing. Boys, I am learning that they are different than girls.
love, Jenny
I dread the first time one of my girls bleeds from the head. You handled it like a total pro, though! Glad Carson bounced right back.
Ouch!! That looked like it hurt! I know what you mean when you talk about your reactions as parents to your little ones getting hurt. I definitely believe it hurts us more sometimes than it does them. My poor Layton seems to get hurt like that a lot too--something about having little boys definitely makes things interesting!
I love Carson's tough guy scar but it looks like it really hurt! I'm so glad it wasn't worse!
Riley did the same thing after hurting himself this week! Those boys!!
Spring Break....Woo-Hoo! Are you going to watch "Friday"?
yikes! poor little dude! hope all is better at your house and tht yyou had a nice easter!
I am so sorry about the boys! We have had ear infections here, too. Hey, I'm going to see if I can find your e mail address instead of posting a lot of stuff here. Maybe it's listed on your profile?
Wow... this is almost exactly why happened to my younger brother Jason when we were little. He busted his head open in almost the same place and just about that size. He was in the hospital for a day even because of it. He did his though when, not wanting to take a bath, he ran down the hallway and ran into the open stairway door. But yes, I was like 8 or something (2 years older) and STILL remember all the blood everywhere!!! Those heads are bleeders!
You'll be happy to know that you can't see a scar on his head at all now. In fact, I remember having a hard time seeing it just a few years later. Vitamin E is a wonderful thing.
